The BLUE SUN BAND has appeared regularly at Erpel & Co. since 2006 in conjunction with the Lindenthal / Dürener Street Festival, New Years Eve, "Tanz in den Mai", as well as playing a year as their regular House Band.

New Years Eve 2010-2011
As our bassman Werner's wife was ill, we played with a guest bass player. We arrived at 6 p.m. so that the equipment was in place before the first guests arrived. All the tables were reserved, but there were was room at the bar for those that did not reserve a table in time. After setting up we had plenty of time to eat. Often with gigs we have to eat in a rush, but not this time. The buffet was very, very good and featured lots of mediteranian specialties, as well as lots of fish and shrimp. I could have filled up with the cold appetizer buffett alone, but left room for the warm buffett .
By the time we were to perform the house was full and we got the crowd dancing. Lots of friends showed up too!
  
 
We played straight without out a break from 10 till 11:45. Then everyone went out to see the fireworks. We had about a 30 minute break. We continued to play till 2 a.m.
After helping packing up and loading all the equipment, I stayed and danced with my overnight guests from Gelsenkirchen till closing. Stuck around a little longer and enjoyed listening to Izzet, the manager, play and sing some turkish music for his guests. My guests and I got a taxi rather quickly and despite the snow made it home with no problems. Made it to bed around 5:30 a.m..

 As the weather was a lot better then last year (no rain) there were a lot more people. We started off a little later then planned as there was another band playing on the street in front of the place, but after we got set up it was "go baby go" from there. We got the house rockin and the people to get up and dance. Blue Sun & Free Step in rotating sets

 Free Step played the first set and had a large audience as the rain drove people in off the street. Unfortunatly the umbrellas meant to protect the band & equipment was not very efficient.
